The Sacred Valley was the heartland of the Incan Empire back in the day. They built hundreds of terraces like these for farming and to prevent erosion and landslides in the steep Andes.
We met this creepy guy while we were stopping for lunch somewhere. He’s not from around here.
That’s the Urubamba River (so much fun to say).
They showed us some natural dyes they used for dyeing Alpaca wool. They take little bugs off of cactus and crush them up to make a red dye which they use for anything from textiles to lipstick.
There are SO many old school VW Bugs in Peru / Bolivia.
